Bafna Pharmaceuticals
The Challenge
Empty bottles of a fast-moving medicine were being collected, refilled with sub-standard product and resold under the brand name. Because the original seal could be peeled cleanly, refilled bottles looked genuine, a serious patient-safety and brand risk.
Our Solution
We applied a tamper-evident VOID label and neck seal that permanently reveals a VOID or OPENED message and destructs if anyone tries to peel or reuse it. We combined it with a serialised code so each pack could be tracked, on a substrate engineered to fragment rather than lift cleanly.
The Results
Refilled fakes became immediately obvious at the point of sale and to patients, and reported refill complaints dropped to zero after rollout. Pharmacists used the VOID cue to reject tampered stock, and the brand strengthened trust with hospitals and distributors.
Background
In pharma, packaging integrity is patient safety. A clean-peeling label is an open door to fraud. The brand needed a seal that could not be quietly reused.
What We Changed
“If someone opens it, you can see it instantly. That protection is non-negotiable for us, it is about patient safety.”
— Quality Head, Bafna Pharmaceuticals
Why It Worked
Tamper evidence works by making interference impossible to hide. A label that self-destructs on removal turns any reuse attempt into an obvious warning.
